  • Author: Charlotte
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes (including chilling time)
  • Yield: Approximately 12 to 16 servings 1x

Description

A delicious and colorful 7 Layer Taco Dip that layers refried beans, creamy cheeses, guacamole, salsa, cheddar cheese, olives, and fresh garnishes to create a crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Bean Layer

  • 32 ounces canned refried beans
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

Other Layers

  • 12 to 16 ounces guacamole
  • 2 cups Pico de gallo or salsa
  • 1 to 2 cups shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 2 ounces canned, sliced olives

Optional Garnishes

  • Chopped green onions or cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bean Layer: In a bowl, blend the canned refried beans with half (about 1 tablespoon) of the taco seasoning using an electric mixer until smooth. Set aside.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In another bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of taco seasoning. Whip them together until the mixture is perfectly smooth and creamy.
  3. Choose Your Dish: Select a deep dish, such as a 9×13 inch baking dish or a glass trifle bowl. The 9×13 dish will result in thinner, more spread-out layers, while a trifle bowl creates a taller presentation.
  4. Layer the Ingredients: Begin with the refried bean mixture as the base layer. Then spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over it. Next, add a layer of guacamole, followed by a layer of Pico de gallo or salsa. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the salsa, and finish with sliced olives as the topmost layer.
  5. Garnish: Add a final decorative touch by sprinkling chopped green onions or cilantro over the top.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled dip for at least 1 hour (or longer) to let the flavors meld together and the layers set nicely before serving.

Notes

  • For best texture and flavor, allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature before mixing.
  • Adjust the amount of taco seasoning according to your taste preference for spice.
  • Use your favorite store-bought or homemade guacamole and salsa for freshness.
  • This dip can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated to enhance flavor blending.
  • Serve with tortilla chips, pita chips, or fresh vegetable sticks for dipping.
