Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Rolls Ingredients
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade), enough to make 12 rolls
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of salt
- Olive oil, for spraying
Dipping Sauce
- Marinara sauce, for dipping (about 1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Assemble all the ingredients so they are ready to use, including pizza dough, shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, salt, olive oil, and marinara sauce for dipping.
- Prepare Dough: If using store-bought dough, let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes to make it easier to roll. If using homemade dough, roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
- Cut Dough Squares: Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut the rolled-out dough into 3×3 inch squares to make the individual pizza rolls.
- Add Filling: On each square, place a small amount of shredded mozzarella cheese, several pepperoni slices, sprinkle evenly with Italian seasoning and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
- Seal Rolls: Fold each dough square over the filling to form a triangle or rectangle and press the edges firmly together, crimping them with your fingers or a fork to seal and prevent filling leakage.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for 5 minutes for even cooking.
- Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil to prevent sticking. Arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer without overcrowding.
- Cook Pizza Rolls: Air fry the rolls for 8-10 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy, shaking or flipping the basket halfway through cooking for even crisping.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the pizza rolls carefully from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the filling.
- Pizza rolls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer for best results.
- Experiment with different fillings such as cooked sausage, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
- Be careful not to overfill the dough to avoid bursting during cooking.
- Use parchment paper or a non-stick liner in the air fryer basket for easier cleanup if desired.
