Ingredients
Scale
Avocado Chocolate Mousse
- 2 large ripe avocados (peeled and pitted)
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
- 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1–3 Tbsp plant milk (such as almond, oat, or soy)
- Pinch of salt
- Optional: 1/4 tsp almond extract (or more, to taste)
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: Place the peeled and pitted avocados, maple syrup, cacao powder, vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and optional almond extract into a food processor.
- Blend until smooth: Blend all ingredients together for about 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides of the food processor as needed to ensure everything is well combined. Start by adding 1 tablespoon of plant milk and add more, up to 3 tablespoons, to achieve a creamy mousse consistency.
- Chill the mousse: Spoon the mousse into small cups or ramekins. Refrigerate for at least 2 to 3 hours, allowing the mousse to set and flavors to meld.
- Serve: Enjoy chilled as a delicious and healthy dessert.
Notes
- Use ripe avocados for the smoothest, creamiest texture.
- The plant milk amount can be adjusted based on desired thickness.
- You can substitute maple syrup with agave nectar or honey if not vegan.
- For a stronger chocolate flavor, increase the cacao powder by a tablespoon.
- Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 2 days.
