Ingredients

Scale

Big Mac Smash Burger

  • 12 mini flour tortillas
  • 1 pound ground beef (453 grams)
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 12 slices American cheese
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 24 slices pickles
  • Iceberg lettuce, shredded

Big Mac Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sweet relish
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, thoroughly combine mayonnaise, ketchup, sweet relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth and well blended. Set aside.
  2. Portion the Meat: Divide the ground beef into 12 equal portions, roughly one small handful each. Roll each portion into a ball to make shaping easier.
  3. Form the Smash Burgers: Place one mini flour tortilla on a flat surface. Put a beef ball on top of the tortilla and flatten it with your hands or a flat spatula until the meat covers the tortilla edge in a thin layer. Season the meat lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the Smashes: Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add about 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil. Place the tortilla with the meat side down onto the hot pan. Using the back of a spatula or a burger press, firmly press down on the meat to create the classic smashed burger effect. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the ground beef is well browned and has developed a crust.
  5. Flip and Add Cheese: Carefully flip the tortilla so the tortilla side is down. Quickly place a slice of American cheese on top of the cooked meat and let it melt for about one minute.
  6. Assemble the Tacos: Remove the cooked mini smash burgers from the heat. Top each with diced white onions, shredded iceberg lettuce, two pickle slices, and a generous spoonful of the prepared Big Mac sauce.
  7. Serve Warm: Serve the mini Big Mac smash tacos immediately while warm and enjoy the perfect blend of Big Mac flavors in a portable taco form.

Notes

  • You can substitute mini flour tortillas with small sandwich buns if preferred.
  • For a lower-fat version, use lean ground beef or ground turkey.
  • The sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days for convenience.
  • Adjust the seasoning on the beef according to your taste preferences.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier cooking and cleanup.
