  • Author: Charlotte
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

This Cheeseburger Pasta Skillet is a hearty and comforting one-pan meal combining tender macaroni noodles with juicy ground sirloin in a savory tomato and cheese sauce. Enhanced with classic cheeseburger flavors like mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and Montreal Steak seasoning, this dish blends the best of two favorites into a quick and satisfying dinner perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta

  • 12 ounces macaroni noodles

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound ground sirloin
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup onion, diced
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal Steak seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons mustard
  • 28 ounces diced tomatoes (canned)

Cheese

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni noodles and cook according to package directions until al dente. Drain the noodles thoroughly and set aside.
  2. Sauté onions: While the noodles cook, heat a large skillet (at least 12 inches) over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and diced onion to the skillet. Sauté the onions until they are soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground sirloin: Add the ground sirloin to the skillet along with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, Montreal Steak seasoning, and minced garlic. Break the meat apart with a spatula and cook until it is browned and no longer pink, ensuring it is cooked through evenly.
  4. Add sauce ingredients: Stir in the ketchup, mustard, diced tomatoes, and 1.5 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients into a rich sauce.
  5. Combine pasta and sauce: Pour the cooked and drained macaroni noodles into the skillet. Stir well to mix the pasta evenly with the meat sauce.
  6. Melt the cheese topping: Sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the skillet mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook until the cheese is fully melted, about 3-5 minutes. Once melted, remove from heat and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider garnishing with chopped fresh parsley or green onions before serving.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when cooking the meat.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta if needed to accommodate dietary preferences.
  • This dish reheats well and can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To make it lower in fat, choose lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey.
