Ingredients
Scale
Pastry
- 1 sheet puff pastry (9 oz / 250 g), thawed
Cheese and Toppings
- 4 oz (115 g) Brie cheese, sliced
- 1/4 cup (30 g) dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup (30 g) toasted walnuts, chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (optional, 2 g)
Additional
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp hot honey (30 ml)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the tart.
- Prepare the puff pastry: Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto the lined baking sheet. Use a knife to score a ½-inch border around the edges, being careful not to cut all the way through. This will allow the edges to puff up nicely.
- Assemble the tart: Arrange the sliced Brie cheese within the scored border, slightly overlapping the slices to ensure even coverage.
- Add toppings: Evenly sprinkle the dried cranberries and the chopped toasted walnuts over the Brie cheese, distributing the flavors throughout the tart.
- Apply egg wash: Brush the edges of the puff pastry with the beaten egg to give the crust a beautiful golden color when baked.
- Bake the tart: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 22 minutes until the pastry is puffed up, golden brown, and the Brie cheese has melted.
- Finish with honey and thyme: Once baked, let the tart cool slightly. Drizzle the hot honey evenly over the top and, if desired, sprinkle fresh thyme leaves for a fragrant finish.
- Serve: Slice the tart and serve warm or at room temperature, perfect as an appetizer or light snack.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry is thoroughly thawed before unrolling to prevent tearing.
- To toast walnuts, heat them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3–5 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- If you prefer less sweetness, reduce the amount of hot honey drizzle or omit it altogether.
- This tart can be made ahead and reheated gently in the oven before serving.
- Experiment with different nuts or fruits such as pecans or dried apricots for variation.
