Christmas Cornflake Wreaths Recipe

  • Author: Charlotte
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 wreaths 1x

Description

Celebrate the festive season with these delightful Christmas Cornflake Wreaths. Combining crispy cornflakes coated in sweet, green-tinted marshmallow, these easy-to-make wreaths are decorated with cinnamon candies to resemble holly berries, making them a fun and tasty holiday treat for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows (about 1 10-ounce bag)
  • 1 teaspoon green food coloring
  • 6 cups Cornflake cereal

Decoration

  • 1 handful cinnamon imperials or cinnamon candies

Instructions

  1. Prepare the workspace: Measure 6 cups of Cornflake cereal into a large bowl. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside for later.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt ½ cup salted butter. Add the 6 cups of mini marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth. Stir in 1 teaspoon green food coloring until the color is evenly distributed.
  3. Coat cornflakes: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the cornflakes. Stir thoroughly to ensure all the cornflakes are evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture; this may take a few minutes to achieve full coverage.
  4. Form wreaths: Using large spoonfuls of the coated cornflakes, drop them onto the prepared baking sheets. Butter or lightly grease your hands and gently shape each spoonful into a round wreath shape.
  5. Add decorations: While the wreaths are still warm and pliable, quickly press a handful of cinnamon imperials or cinnamon candies onto each wreath to resemble holly berries.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the wreaths to cool completely on the baking sheets before serving, so they firm up and hold their shape.

Notes

  • Butter your hands before shaping the wreaths to prevent sticking.
  • You can substitute the green food coloring with natural alternatives such as spinach powder if desired.
  • Store the wreaths in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.
  • If cinnamon imperials are unavailable, red candies like red M&Ms or cranberries can be used as decorative berries.
  • Use mini marshmallows for better coating and easier melting.
