Description
Delicious and easy-to-make Oreo Truffles, also known as Oreo Balls, combining crushed Oreos and creamy full-fat cream cheese, dipped in melted white or semisweet chocolate for a rich, bite-sized treat perfect for parties and gifting.
Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 36 Oreos (Original, not double stuffed)
- 1 package cream cheese (full fat, 8 oz)
Chocolate Coating
- 2–3 cups melted chocolate (white or semisweet)
- ¼ cup additional Oreos, crushed (for topping)
Instructions
- Crush Oreos: Add the Oreos to a food processor and pulse until you achieve fine crumbs, ensuring there are no large chunks remaining for a smooth mixture.
- Combine with Cream Cheese: Add the full-fat cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs and pulse several times until the mixture is thoroughly combined and forms a dough-like consistency.
- Form Balls: Scoop small portions of the Oreo mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter, ensuring they are smooth and compact.
- Chill: Place the Oreo balls on a cookie tray lined with wax or parchment paper and chill them in the freezer for about 20 minutes to firm up for easier dipping.
- Dip in Chocolate: Remove the chilled balls from the freezer and dip each one into melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool to ensure an even coating.
- Optional Topping: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle the dipped balls with additional crushed Oreos before the chocolate sets, adding extra texture and flavor.
- Set Chocolate: Place the dipped truffles back on the lined tray and allow the chocolate to set at room temperature for 15-20 minutes until firm.
- Serve & Enjoy: Once the chocolate is fully set, enjoy the Oreo truffles as a delightful treat or store them in the refrigerator for later consumption.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use full-fat cream cheese instead of low-fat or fat-free versions.
- You can substitute white chocolate with semisweet or dark chocolate according to preference.
- Ensure the Oreo balls are well chilled before dipping to prevent melting and to achieve a smooth chocolate coating.
- Store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Try adding sprinkles or colored sugar on top for festive occasions.
