Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken Stir Fry is a quick and flavorful dish combining tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and carrots in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner, it cooks in just about 20 minutes and can be easily served with rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 cup thinly sliced peeled carrots
  • 2 cups broccoli florets

Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1 inch pieces

Sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low sodium chicken broth or water
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Other

  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon vegetable oil, divided use
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Vegetables: Heat 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the broccoli florets and thinly sliced carrots, cooking for about 4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp. Remove them from the pan and cover with a plate to keep warm.
  2. Prepare and Cook Chicken: Wipe the pan clean with a paper towel, turn the heat to high, and add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Add them to the pan in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary. Cook each side for 3 to 4 minutes until the chicken is golden brown and fully cooked through.
  3. Add Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the pan with the chicken and cook for 30 seconds to release its flavor without burning.
  4. Return Vegetables: Add the cooked vegetables back into the pan with the chicken and garlic. Cook together for 2 more minutes to heat through and combine flavors.
  5. Make Sauce Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the chicken broth (or water), honey, and soy sauce.
  6. Mix Cornstarch Slurry: In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with one tablespoon of cold water until dissolved.
  7. Combine and Thicken Sauce: Pour the honey soy sauce mixture over the chicken and vegetables in the pan. Cook for 30 seconds, then add the cornstarch slurry. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for one more minute or until the sauce thickens to a glaze consistency.
  8. Serve: Remove from heat and serve the honey garlic chicken stir fry immediately. It pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.

  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Vegetables such as bell peppers, snap peas, or mushrooms can be added or substituted based on preference.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
