Hot Chocolate Fudge Recipe

  • Author: Charlotte
  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 16 squares 1x

Description

This Hot Chocolate Fudge recipe combines rich semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips with creamy sweetened condensed milk and the warm flavors of hot chocolate mix. Topped with mini marshmallows, this easy no-bake fudge is perfect for chocolate lovers seeking a cozy, indulgent treat that sets in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Base

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 hot chocolate packets (or 6 tablespoons hot chocolate mix)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Marshmallows

  • 3 cups mini marshmallows (2 cups stirred in, 1 cup for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pan: Line an 8×8 inch pan or casserole dish with parchment paper or foil, then lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt Chocolate Mixture: Combine milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, butter, sweetened condensed milk, and hot chocolate powder in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Heat Until Smooth: If using a double boiler, warm over medium heat stirring constantly until fully melted and smooth. If microwaving, heat in 45-second intervals, stirring in between, then continue in 15-second bursts until melted.
  4. Add Flavorings and Marshmallows: Stir in vanilla extract, then gently fold in 2 cups of mini marshmallows to the melted chocolate mixture.
  5. Pour and Top: Transfer the fudge mixture into the prepared dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup mini marshmallows evenly on top and gently press them into the fudge so they adhere.
  6. Chill: Cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, allowing the fudge to fully set before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Using parchment paper or foil makes it easier to lift the fudge out of the pan for clean cuts.
  • Be sure to stir constantly while melting to prevent burning, especially when using a double boiler.
  • If you prefer extra marshmallow gooeyness, add more marshmallows on top before refrigerating.
  • Store leftover fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use a higher quality hot chocolate mix or additional cocoa powder.
