Ingredients
Scale
Chili Sauce
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup water
Main Ingredients
- 8 hot dogs
- 8 low carb tortillas or wraps
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking during baking.
- Make the Chili Sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the cooked ground chuck with the diced tomatoes, water, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 8-10 minutes until the chili thickens and flavors meld.
- Assemble Hot Dogs: Spoon a layer of the chili sauce into the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Roll each hot dog in a low-carb tortilla, placing them seam-side down in the casserole dish over the sauce.
- Add Remaining Sauce and Cheese: Pour the remaining chili sauce evenly over the rolled hot dogs. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously on top to cover the dish.
- Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the cheese is bubbly, golden, and the casserole is set.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Add your favorite toppings such as sour cream, sliced jalapeños, or chopped onions if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chuck with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Use low-carb tortillas to keep the dish keto-friendly.
- For extra spice, add hot sauce or diced jalapeños to the chili sauce.
- Leftover casserole can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
- Cheese can be varied to your preference; Monterey Jack or pepper jack work well too.
