Ingredients
Scale
Base Layers
- 10 oz Classic Hummus
- 12 oz Tzatziki
Vegetable Mixture
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- ½ cup Tomatoes, seeded and diced
- ½ cup Cucumber, seeded and diced
- ½ cup Orange Bell Pepper, seeded and diced
- ¼ cup Red Onion, diced
- ¼ cup Kalamata Olives, pitted and halved
- 4 Tbs Olive Oil (plus some to drizzle on the top)
- 3 Tbs Fresh Dill
- 2 Tbs Oregano, dry
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Toppings
- ½ cup Blocked Feta Cheese, crumbled
- Pita Chips, for scooping
Instructions
- Prepare the Vegetable Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, diced cucumber, diced red onion, halved Kalamata olives, and diced orange bell pepper. Add 4 tablespoons of olive oil, then season the mixture with salt, pepper, dry oregano, and fresh dill. Toss everything together thoroughly and set aside to marinate and meld the flavors.
- Spread the Hummus: On a large serving plate, spread the classic hummus evenly into a circle about ¼ inch thick. This will serve as the base layer for the dip.
- Add the Tzatziki Layer: Carefully spread the tzatziki sauce over the hummus layer, leaving approximately half an inch of hummus visible around the edges to create a beautiful layered effect.
- Top with Vegetable Mixture: Spoon the prepared vegetable mixture into the center of the tzatziki layer. Evenly spread it out, leaving about half an inch of the tzatziki exposed around the edges to maintain the layered look.
- Add Feta and Final Drizzle: Sprinkle the crumbled blocked feta cheese generously over the vegetable layer. Finish by drizzling a little extra olive oil on top for added richness and shine.
- Serve: Present the layered Greek dip alongside pita chips for scooping and enjoy this flavorful Mediterranean appetizer immediately.
Notes
- For best results, seed the tomatoes and cucumbers to avoid excess moisture making the dip watery.
- Use fresh dill for a bright, authentic flavor; dried dill can be substituted but in lesser quantity.
- This dip can be prepared a few hours ahead; keep refrigerated and assemble layers just before serving to maintain freshness and texture.
- Substitute pita chips with fresh vegetable crudités for a gluten-free option.
- Adjust salt and herbs to taste according to personal preference.
