Ingredients
Scale
Noodles
- 8 oz (225 g) wide egg noodles
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ cup beef broth
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Vegetables and Garnish
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 cup shredded carrots (optional)
- 1 cup broccoli florets (optional)
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the wide egg noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain the noodles and toss them with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Set the noodles aside.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook it while breaking it into small pieces, until browned, approximately 5 to 6 minutes. Remove any excess fat if necessary to keep the dish from being greasy.
- Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and minced fresh ginger to the browned beef. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the mixture becomes fragrant, enhancing the flavor base of the dish.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, sesame oil, and black pepper. Pour this sauce mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet. Stir well to incorporate all flavors and let it simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Combine with Noodles: Add the cooked and oiled noodles to the skillet with the beef and sauce. Toss everything thoroughly to coat the noodles evenly with the delicious sauce.
- Add Veggies and Garnish: Mix in the optional shredded carrots and broccoli florets. Cook together for 2 to 3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp, adding freshness and texture. Finally, top the dish with sliced green onions and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
