Description

This Pumpkin Whipped Feta Dip combines creamy feta cheese with smooth pumpkin puree, enhanced by a touch of honey and thyme for a unique, savory-sweet flavor. Perfect as a seasonal appetizer or snack served with crusty bread or crackers, it’s a delightful fall-inspired dip that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Whipped Feta:

  • Approx. 8 oz block of feta cheese, drained from brine (around 220 grams)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt (use a higher fat option for less tartness)
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 12 Tbsp honey (plus more, to serve)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (or 2 tsp fresh thyme)
  • Black pepper (freshly cracked, to taste)

Toppings:

  • Fresh thyme (can use dried, if needed)
  • Chopped walnuts (optional; raw or toasted)
  • Extra honey drizzle

Serve With:

  • Crusty, toasted bread (like sourdough or baguette)
  • Crackers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the whipped feta: Add the drained feta cheese and Greek yogurt to a food processor. Blend together for a few minutes until the mixture is smooth, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides with a spatula to ensure even blending.
  2. Add pumpkin and flavorings: Into the food processor, add the canned pumpkin puree, 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey depending on your preferred sweetness, dried or fresh thyme, and a few cracks of black pepper. Blend again until all the ingredients are fully combined into a uniform, creamy dip.
  3. Chill the dip: Transfer the whipped feta mixture to a covered container and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes. Chilling is important to firm up the dip and enhance the flavors.
  4. Serve and garnish: When ready to serve, transfer the chilled whipped feta dip to a large serving bowl. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh thyme leaves, a handful of chopped walnuts if desired, an extra drizzle of honey, and additional freshly cracked black pepper to taste.
  5. Accompany the dip: Serve immediately alongside crusty toasted bread such as sourdough or baguette slices, or with your choice of crackers for dipping and enjoying this flavorful appetizer.

Notes

  • For a creamier dip with less tartness, use a higher-fat Greek yogurt.
  • Raw or toasted walnuts add a nice crunch, but are optional based on preference or dietary restrictions.
  • Adjust the honey quantity to control the sweetness level of the dip.
  • This dip can be made up to a day in advance; keep it covered and chilled until serving.
  • Try serving with gluten-free crackers or bread to accommodate dietary needs.
