Ingredients
Scale
Salmon Dip
- 7 oz (200g) baked salmon
- 7 oz (200g) cream cheese
- 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
- 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- Lemon zest of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Baguette Toasts
- 1 baguette
- Olive oil, for brushing
- Sea salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon: Flake the baked salmon into small pieces, ensuring all bones and skin are removed for a smooth texture.
- Mix the Dip: In a medium bowl, combine the flaked salmon, cream cheese, chopped red onion, lemon juice, lemon zest, dill, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until well blended.
- Season and Chill: Taste the mixture and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Transfer the dip to a serving dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Prepare the Baguette Toasts: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into pieces and brush each slice with olive oil. Sprinkle sea salt and freshly ground black pepper on top.
- Bake the Toasts: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until they turn light golden brown and crisp. Remove from oven and let them cool slightly.
- Serve: Garnish the salmon dip with fresh dill if desired. Serve chilled alongside the toasted baguette slices, crackers, or vegetable sticks for a tasty appetizer or snack.
Notes
- Make sure to fully remove any bones from the salmon to avoid unpleasant texture.
- For extra zing, add a little extra lemon juice or zest according to taste.
- Use full-fat cream cheese for a richer dip or reduced-fat for a lighter version.
- The dip can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to deepen the flavors.
- If you prefer gluten-free, substitute the baguette with gluten-free crackers or bread.
