  • Author: Charlotte
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: About 6 servings 1x

Description

This delicious salmon dip combines tender baked salmon with creamy cream cheese, fresh dill, lemon juice, and red onion for a refreshing and savory spread. Perfect for parties or a light snack, it’s served chilled alongside crunchy toasted baguette slices brushed with olive oil and seasoned with sea salt and pepper.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Dip

  • 7 oz (200g) baked salmon
  • 7 oz (200g) cream cheese
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • Lemon zest of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Baguette Toasts

  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Flake the baked salmon into small pieces, ensuring all bones and skin are removed for a smooth texture.
  2. Mix the Dip: In a medium bowl, combine the flaked salmon, cream cheese, chopped red onion, lemon juice, lemon zest, dill, salt, and pepper. Stir thoroughly until well blended.
  3. Season and Chill: Taste the mixture and adjust salt and pepper as needed. Transfer the dip to a serving dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Prepare the Baguette Toasts: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into pieces and brush each slice with olive oil. Sprinkle sea salt and freshly ground black pepper on top.
  5. Bake the Toasts: Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until they turn light golden brown and crisp. Remove from oven and let them cool slightly.
  6. Serve: Garnish the salmon dip with fresh dill if desired. Serve chilled alongside the toasted baguette slices, crackers, or vegetable sticks for a tasty appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Make sure to fully remove any bones from the salmon to avoid unpleasant texture.
  • For extra zing, add a little extra lemon juice or zest according to taste.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese for a richer dip or reduced-fat for a lighter version.
  • The dip can be made a day ahead and refrigerated to deepen the flavors.
  • If you prefer gluten-free, substitute the baguette with gluten-free crackers or bread.
