Valentine’s Day Crack is a delightful and addictive sweet treat featuring a crispy saltine cracker base topped with a rich caramelized butter and brown sugar mixture, coated in smooth white almond bark and decorated with vibrant pink and red candy melts and festive Valentine-themed sprinkles. Perfect for gifting or enjoying as a festive snack during the Valentine’s Day season.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1 Cup Butter (2 Sticks)
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Stack Saltine Crackers (about 40 crackers)

Toppings

  • 1 lb. Package White Almond Bark, melted
  • ½ Package Red Candy Melts
  • ½ Package Pink Candy Melts
  • Valentine-themed sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Arrange Crackers: Lay out the stack of saltine crackers evenly on the foil-lined cookie sheet, covering the surface completely in a single layer.
  3. Melt Butter and Brown Sugar: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Bring the mixture to a boil and continue stirring while boiling for 5 minutes until it thickens and caramelizes slightly.
  4. Pour Sugar Mixture: Immediately pour the hot butter and brown sugar mixture evenly over the crackers, spreading if needed to coat all pieces.
  5. Bake Cracker Mixture: Place the cookie sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 8 minutes, allowing the caramel to bubble and set slightly.
  6. Melt Chocolates: While the cracker mixture bakes, melt the white almond bark, pink candy melts, and red candy melts separately in microwave-safe bowls according to package instructions.
  7. Spread White Chocolate: Remove the baked crackers from the oven and pour the melted white almond bark evenly over the warm caramel layer. Spread it smoothly with a spatula.
  8. Decorate with Pink Candy Melts: Drizzle the melted pink candy melts over the white chocolate layer and use a fork or spatula to swirl them gently to create a marbled effect.
  9. Decorate with Red Candy Melts and Sprinkles: Next, drizzle the red candy melts over the white chocolate as well, swirling it in with the pink. Immediately sprinkle Valentine-themed sprinkles over the top for decoration.
  10. Cool and Break: Allow the entire tray to cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens. Once set, break the candy into smaller pieces and serve or package for gifting.

Notes

  • Be sure to stir the butter and brown sugar mixture constantly while boiling to avoid burning.
  • Use a full sheet of saltine crackers for optimal coverage and proper texture.
  • Allow the candy to cool completely before breaking to ensure clean snaps.
  • Store the cracked candy in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature or refrigerated for longer freshness.
  • Variations can include using different colored candy melts or adding nuts on top before cooling.
